We had the pleasure of welcoming Caroline Janvier, Member of Parliament for La République en Marche to the ECSR for a conference on the theme: exchange on health.
Ms. Caroline Janvier, Member of Parliament for the second riding of Loiret, was kind enough to accept the invitation from the CEDS and presented us with her background and the issues at stake in her political commitment.
The fight against the exclusion of people with disabilities, reform of cannabis use, bioethics, France-Russia relations, are all struggles led by Ms. Janvier.
Coming from an associative background, Caroline Janvier has long worked for the inclusion of people with disabilities within the company.
She explained to us her struggle, which is taking shape thanks to the creation of the “disability label”. The purpose of this label is to encourage companies to hire people with disabilities in order to create a positive and dynamic image of the world of work. This integration enhances both the company and its employees.
To this end, she reminded us that companies with more than 20 employees are obliged to have a minimum of 6% of workers with disabilities. Financial penalties are put in place if this is not respected.
However, this is only a first step towards integration and the creation of a strong link between the specialised and the so-called “ordinary” environment:
A daily commitment through the organisation of mobility at work and in daily life, training at school and in the workplace, the provision of care or home adaptations are the major lines of work to promote the inclusion of people with disabilities.
